Learning Together - The Parent & Child Project

Funded by the Big Lottery and run in Partnership with the Living Archive in Wolverton, the Parent and Child Project has funding to run the full Learning Together programme twice each year through to winter 2009. The free training course is made up of a series of training modules aimed at parents of children aged 8 - 13 years. Courses for parents & Children: - Creative IT and History - Homework Support - IT Design Courses for parents only: - Effective communication with children - Computer skills - Interpersonal skills. Free creche facilities available, travel expenses can be reimbursed and learner support can be provided.

British Dyslexia Organisation

Independent Parental Supporter Training

Milton Keynes Parent Partnership Service offers independent information, advice and support to the parents/carers of children from birth to nineteen who have, or who may have, a special educational need. They aim to empower parents to become partners in their childs education, to enable them to gain the confidence to voice their opinions, and make informal decisions about their childs education. Due to the growing caseload this organisation urgently needs to recruit more volunteer Independent Parental Supporters for their next FREE training course. Training will cover all areas of Special Educational Needs and policy procedures. Volunteers must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and will need to undertake a Criminal Record Bureau check. On completion of training the frequency and duration of support to families will vary from week to week.
